This could be the most waited MMO to come to the West because we have been waiting for it since 2014. Like Path of Exile or Diablo 3, Lost Ark is an isometric camera action RPG. Imagine the hack and slash combat with both PvE and PvP, buffed with good gameplay mechanics and a fleshed out endgame content.
It’s what Diablo 3 should have been but far more like an MMO. The game is in great shape, what we will get is a completely fleshed out MMORPG with many content updates at release. From the smooth visuals and animations. The weighty combat with satisfying playstyle and a variety of classes revised many times already.
Beta testing has been ongoing in both China and Japan and the Russian release also has been doing very well. Steadily moving across regions, stabilizing and solidifying before moving to the next. Until a must waited for Worldwide release.
A Western version was finally confirmed! On the official Lost Ark Facebook page, a post came in response to a hopeful player named Matthew. After asking for a possible Oceanic server, he received unexpected news.
“We are currently working hard to prepare for global release. We can’t mark the date yet, but we want to tell you that we’re working on it and are looking forward to announcing some good news soon. You can always check the latest news about us in the game on the official Facebook or YouTube channel”
It’s a shame that we have not been able to see the proper announcement of this amazing news. There is going to be an official announcement soon but now it’s a case of how long the actual release will take.
Smilegate launched the game in three major regions beyond Korea, so they have enough experience at this point to make sure it runs well. It’s a massive task to translate and voice act everything in a different language. Smilegate has been through this process already. The knowledge gain could have a positive impact on the final release.
A game worth waiting for to anyone who’s ever been into a Diablo or Path of Exile style of game or into this genre as a whole. This could be a success powerhouse of a game with so many people wanting to play it for years already.
As for the core player base, assuming that even if it takes a while to release, the interest will not fade away at all. The game is up to date and enhanced with new material, the Holy Knight launched last year as one of the newer classes. It looked incredible to have a Paladin warrior who uses Holy powers to support or even fight alone.
At launch, I would expect we will have access to the majority of the content of the current Korean version. Or even releases at an accelerated pace to catch up to the Korean timeline. It’s a massive game after all and it’s been ongoing for years, so we are all very hyped and looking forward to playing it.
